Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister\u00a0Tharman Shanmugaratnam unveiled the Budget\u00a0in Parliament on 21 February 2015, which is aimed\u00a0towards building Singapore’s future through more\u00a0innovation, learning and expertise, and a fair and\u00a0just society. In conjunction with the release of the\u00a0Singapore Budget 2015, SICCI organised a seminar\u00a0 on 27 February 2015.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The speaker for the seminar was MrAndrew Campos,\u00a0owner and Director of MC Campos Tax Services\u00a0Pte Ltd. Mr Andrew is well versed in corporate,\u00a0GST and personal tax advisory, structuring and\u00a0compliance matters having worked at IRAS and\u00a0in public practice in Singapore covering a broad\u00a0spectrum of clients. The speaker covered key\u00a0aspects of the budget in significance to companies\u00a0and entrepreneurs. The session was attended by\u00a0working professionals from various industries and\u00a0as well several entrepreneurs.<\/div>\n

He spoke on the Government’s plan to support\u00a0the next generation of businesses by promoting\u00a0innovation and internationalisation. He briefed on\u00a0the enhanced support schemes to be rolled out\u00a0for small and medium enterprises that are looking\u00a0to innovate and venture overseas, International\u00a0Growth Scheme and Double Tax Deduction (DTD}\u00a0Scheme were some of the new initiatives covered.\u00a0The Productivity and Innovation Scheme has also\u00a0been extended by three years, in a measure to\u00a0support productivity.<\/div>\n

To further support companies. Especially SMEs and\u00a0to grow via strategic acquisitions, some adjustments\u00a0have been made to the Mergers and Acquisitions\u00a0(M&A) Scheme which is a useful strategy to acquire\u00a0scale, attract talent and compete effectively.<\/div>\n

Emphasis on investing in skills of the future and\u00a0empowering individuals to develop throughout their\u00a0lite span, rather than only through formal education\u00a0or early in their career was also a key highlight of\u00a0the Budget 2015. Mr Andrew, had also briefed the\u00a0crowd on changes to the Corporate Tax Rebate,\u00a0CPF Pillar, Retirement Scheme and Foreign Worker\u00a0Levies.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
